All Mineral substances contained in the soil and sub soil of the Cameroonian territory, its continental waters and its territorial shelf shall be the property of the State? But however, the law permits holders of mining titles or other licenses to acquire ownership of the mineral substances they extract.
The Mining titles are; –
- Non industrial mining license
- Semi-mechanised non industrial mining license
- Exploration permit
- Small scale mining permit
- Industrial mining permit
The state in the quest to improve geological and scientific knowledge can authorise reconnaissance activities which does not require obtaining a mining title but rather a reconnaissance permit. Only persons operating in the mining sector shall be granted a mining title.
The mining titles once signed by the competent authority, shall be collected from the mining titles registry on presentation of a receipt confirming payment in to the treasury of fixed charges and annual royalties.
